Another recipe that I only ever tried once. I liked it, but it was otherwise unpopular in my house. Itβs vegetarian but not vegan-friendly (it uses egg as a binder).
They are very dense and filling.
Ingredients

1/2 large red onion, chopped
- πΆοΈ 1-2 whole chipotle peppers in adobo sauce (optional)
- π« 2 cans black beans drained and rinsed (15 ounces each)
- π 1 cup plain bread crumbs
- πΏ 1 1/2 teaspoons cumin
- π§ 3/4 teaspoon salt
- π§ 4 cloves garlic
- βοΈ 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- π₯ 2 large eggs
Instructions
- Place onion, chipotle, and garlic into a food processor and pulse until finely chopped. Add black beans and pulse until beans are partially chopped, leaving some whole or partial beans. Transfer to a large mixing bowl.
- Stir in bread crumbs, cumin, salt, pepper and eggs until well combined.
- Divide mixture to for 8 patties.
- When ready to cook choose one of the following options:
- Fried: Heat a lightly oiled skillet to medium high heat. Cook for 5 minutes on each side.
- Baked: Bake in a 400 β oven for 5 minutes each side.
- Grilled: Cook on an outdoor grill for 5 minutes each side.
